Manual Upgrade of Apache Server 2.0.50 to Apache Server 2.4.10 for Caliber 11.3 Web Client

Caliber 11.3 Web Client ships with Apache Web Server 2.0.50. If you would like to upgrade this version of Apache Web Server to the latest version Apache Server 2.4.10, please follow the steps given below:

  1. Download the latest Apache version 2.4.10 (httpd-2.4.10-x86.zip) from various binary distributions available at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/platform/windows.html     

    For e.g. ‘httpd-2.4.10-x86.zip’ can be downloaded from

    http://www.apachehaus.com/cgi-bin/download.plx#APACHE24VC11
  2. Unzip the Apache24 folder in the package zip file to the root directory on any drive. This is the      "ServerRoot" in the config.

    Example: c:\Apache24
  3. Stop Apache 2.0.50 service

  4. Install Apache as a service by typing at the console prompt;

       httpd -k install
  5. Then start Apache 2.4  service by typing

       httpd -k start

    Other Command line options:

    Stop Apache   :                      httpd -k stop

    Restart Apache:                     httpd -k restart

    Uninstall Apache Service:      httpd -k uninstall

    Command Line Options List:  httpd -h
  6. Stop Apache 2.4 service in Windows Services.

  7. Modify the httpd.conf file for Apache 2.4.10 in C:\Apache24\conf with the following changes :

     #ServerAdmin admin@example.com

    ServerAdmin ApacheServer@Borland.com

    #ServerName localhost:80

    ServerName www.BorlandServer.com:80

    #DocumentRoot "C:\Apache24\htdocs"

    DocumentRoot "C:\Borland\CaliberRMServer\WebAccess"

     <Directory "C:\Borland\CaliberRMServer\WebAccess">

                                    Options Indexes FollowSymLinks

                                    AllowOverride None

                                    Require all granted

    </Directory>

    Alias /icons/ "C:\Apache24\icons/"

    Alias /Plugin "C:\Borland\CaliberRMServer\WebAccess\htdocs"

    Alias /caliberrm C:\Borland\CaliberRMServer\WebAccess\htdocs

    Alias /Caliberrm C:\Borland\CaliberRMServer\WebAccess\htdocs

    Alias /CaliberRM C:\Borland\CaliberRMServer\WebAccess\htdocs

    Alias /CALIBERRM C:\Borland\CaliberRMServer\WebAccess\htdocs
  8. Start Apache 2.4 service in Windows Services.

  9. The Caliber web client can be then launched in IE with http://<<Hostname>>/CaliberRM/ and logged in to Caliber Server.
