User"s cannot obtain a license from the License Server and the CaliberRM server log contains the message ?Failed reading product info for slip?.

Problem:

User"s cannot obtain a license from the License Server and the CaliberRM server log contains the message ?Failed reading product info for slip?.

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: 2005 R2
  • Product Component: Server/License
  • Platform/OS Version: All

The CaliberRM server must be able to communicate with the License Server in order to obtain a license for a user who has not been assigned a native CaliberRM license. If users are unable to login and the CaliberRM server log contains the following abbreviated error messages:

Failed reading product info for slip
Caught License Exception ->Exception occurred in blsCheckout

Note: The default location of your CaliberRM server log is located at
C:\Borland\CaliberRMServer\Logs\caliber_srv.log

Then the problem may be that the libraries that CaliberRM uses to communicate with the license server are not installed properly. Please try going to

Add/Remove Programs > CaliberRM > Change > Repair.

If this does not resolve the problem then please uninstall and reinstall the CaliberRM server. Please be sure to make a valid backup of your database using the procedures recommended in the Database Administration chapter of the User Guide before proceeding with uninstalling your CaliberRM server.

Be sure to be logged in as the database owner when you make a backup. Borland recommends that you restore your backup to a test server to be sure you have created a valid backup.

After re-installing the CaliberRM server, you will need to restore your backup. The restore procedure is also documented in the User Guide.
