VSTS: Exception ?Database ?CaliberRM? already exists? or an error with regards to the lack of permissions to create a database is encountered.

Problem:

VSTS: Exception ?Database ?CaliberRM? already exists? or an error with regards to the lack of permissions to create a database is encountered.

Resolution:

Version: Build 8.1.488 of CaliberRM for Team Foundation Server.

This error condition occurs because the CaliberRM web service running on the application server failed to login to the CaliberRM database in the TFS instance of SQL Server. Our web service responds to this condition by trying to recreate the CaliberRM database in SQL Server which fails with an exception. In order to resolve this problem, you need to run the SQL script that is attached to this article.

Login as an Administrator on the machine that represents the data tier of TFS. Bring up a command prompt and enter the following command:

>osql ?S server -E ?i AddTFSSERVICEPermissions.sql

**Replace server with the name of the SQL Server.

The osql utility is typically already in your path, but it can be found in the following directory. %PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn

Once the script successfully completes, you should see a Login for the TFSSERVICE user in under Databases > CaliberRM > Security > Users in SQL Server.

This issue will be resolved in a future version of the installer.
