What causes the server log to report, "9 Failed to parse license key : invalid key at (.\EvalKeyManager.cpp,40)"?

Problem:

What causes the server log to report, "9 Failed to parse license key : invalid key at (.\EvalKeyManager.cpp,40)"?

Resolution:

  • Product name: CaliberRM
  • Product version: All
  • Product component: Server
  • Platform/OS version: Windows 2003 Server

When trying to connect to the CaliberRM server the client will receive the error message:

Could not connect to the CaliberRM server . Please contact your system administrator

Furthermore the caliber_srv.exe will cycle, i.e. the process will start, remain open for a few seconds and then shut down again. This can be seen within the task manager. .

The CaliberRM server log will also record the error:

9 Failed to parse license key : invalid key at (.\EvalKeyManager.cpp,40)"

To resolve this issue

  1. Stop the CaliberRM server processes via "dbmgr -stop"
  2. Stop the database via stopdb SQMDB
  3. Navigate to "...\Borland\CaliberRMServer\Visibroker"
  4. Check the size of the borland.lic file, if it is 0kb then rename the borland.lic file to borland.lic.old
  5. Start the database via startdb SQMDB
  6. Start the CaliberRM server processes via dbmgr -start

If the problem persists then please raise a new support case.
