When using the SDK to create users, is it possible to create the users without the Glossary Admin property enabled?

When using the SDK to create users, is it possible to create the users without the Glossary Admin property enabled?

Problem:

When using the SDK to create users, is it possible to create the users without the Glossary Admin property enabled?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: All
  • Product Component: SDK
  • Platform/OS Version: All

When you create a User via the SDK, the Glossary Admin property is enabled by default and currently it is not possible to change this when creating the user.

It is, however, possible to change this property for multiple users at a time after they have been created by using the support tool, IVQL. If you do not have a copy of this tool please raise a support case to request a copy. If you do have a copy of the tool, before performing the following steps, please try them on a test server or make sure you have a viable backup of your production database.

  1. Open a command prompt and navigate to the folder the IVQL tool is in
  2. Now enter "IVQL SQMDB" (note: if SQMDB isn’t the name of your database, change it to the appropriate name.)

  3. To get a list of your users, enter

    SELECT id_number, first_name, last_name FROM User_v300_p.

  4. From this user list you can get the associated id_number which you need to be able to select the appropriate user. There are now two ways you can proceed.

    • If you only need to change a couple of users go to step 5
    • If you need to change multiple users go to step 6
  5. To make the change to users Tom (3100027) and Dawn (3100029) enter the following command

    UPDATE User_v300_p SET userCanModifyGlossaryTerms=0 WHERE id_number = 3100027 and id_number = 3100029

This command removes the Glossary administrator property from these two users. If you want to give the property back, then run the above command again except change the userCanModifyGlossaryTerms=0 to userCanModifyGlossaryTerms=1.

  6. If you want to change this property for all the users created after the user Frank (3100022) then use this command

    UPDATE User_v300_p SET userCanModifyGlossaryTerms = 0 WHERE id_number > 3100022.

  7. Enter "commit" to save the changes to database,
  8. Enter "quit" to exit the program.

It may also be necessary to restart the CaliberRM server to make sure it has picked up the changes. Do this by entering

dbmgr –stop
dbmgr –start
