Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: N/A
  • Product Component: Quality Center Integration
  • Platform/OS Version: CaliberRM 2005 R2 SP1

Description:

Why am I getting the error ?Server not available? when trying to connect to my QC server in the Traceability tab of CaliberRM?

Answer/Solution:

It is likely that either your QC server is not currently running, or the server URL that you have entered in the Framework Administrator is invalid.

In order to determine where the problem lies:

  1. Open up the Framework Administrator and navigate to the particular project, click on the ?External Traceability? tab.
  2. Click on the Quality Center addin and select the ?edit? button.
  3. Then click the modify button.
  4. QC_config.txt should open for editing.
  5. Check that you have entered the correct URL string needed to connect to your Quality Center server.
  6. The URL should end in either /qcbin or /tdbin depending on whether you are using Quality Center or Test Director.
  7. If you make changes to this URL you must close and re-open the CaliberRM client before these changes will take effect.
  8. If you are sure that the URL is valid but you are still receiving the error in the Traceability modification window, copy and paste the URL into Internet Explorer on the same client machine and try to connect to the QC server.
  9. If you cannot connect on this address through the browser, it is unlikely that you will be able to connect via CaliberRM.
  10. If you can connect to your QC server with this URL through the browser but not through CaliberRM, please contact technical support for further help.
