Why am I unable to assign the "Business Requirements" requirement type in CaliberRM to a newly created TeamDefine project?

Why am I unable to assign the "Business Requirements" requirement type in CaliberRM to a newly created TeamDefine project?

Problem:

Why am I unable to assign the "Business Requirements" requirement type in CaliberRM to a newly created TeamDefine project?

Resolution:

There are two factors that cause this behavior:

  • When a project is created, whether in TeamDefine or CaliberRM, security for the project is automatically enabled
  • The "Business Requirements" requirement type that comes with the CaliberRM sample database has a default security setting of "No Access"

Thus, the default security profile is applied and no one has access to the Requirement Type. Right clicking the project in the CaliberRM client, going to "Set Requirement Type" and selecting "Business Requirements" gives the impression that the Requirement Type has been set. However, when the dialog box is closed it looks like the Requirement Type has not been added. To resolve this you can either turn off security on the project altogether (top of the req tree in the CaliberRM client), or (a more permanent solution) change the default security in CaliberRM for "Business Requirements" to be ""Create". Then the hidden requirement type will appear.

NOTE: The "Business Requirements" Requirement Type referrenced in this solution referrs to an out-of-the-box CaliberRM Requirement Type. The same behavior would be experienced for any Requirement Type whose default access is set to "None" coupled with the default security profile being enabled for the project.
