Why are users unable to query SSL and MSL UDA"s via drop down list of values in Business Objects?

Resolution:

Problem Description:

When you have Single Selection List or Multiple Selection List UDA"s in your database and you want to have a drop down list of values for running querys via datamart, you must make some configuration changes changes to the UDA"s in the Universe file.

Resolution:

  • Open the UNV in Designer (program files\borland\caliberrmexplorer\Business Objects- double click designer .exe)
  • Highlight the UDA (all SSL and MSL)
  • Right Click and Choose Object Properties
  • Choose the "Properties" tab
  • Select " Associate a list of values" (take default list name and apply the changes)
  • Take the defaults on the Advanced tab and the list will be displayed
  • Re-run the Business Objects Report

NOTE: As of CaliberRM 2005R2, Business objects is no longer included with CaliberRM, however there are sample universes available. Designer.exe will be located where-ever the standalone version of Business Objects resides.
