Why can I not log into CaliberRM with the named "Admin" user when I have configured CaliberRM to use BLS licenses only?

Why can I not log into CaliberRM with the named "Admin" user when I have configured CaliberRM to use BLS licenses only?

Problem:

Why can I not log into CaliberRM with the named "Admin" user when I have configured CaliberRM to use BLS licenses only?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: N/A
  • Product Component: CaliberRM Server/licensing
  • Platform/OS Version: All

The information in the User Guide states:

The ADMIN user is always a Named User for each product, but does not count against the number of Named User licenses you have.

However this only applies if you are using CaliberRM licenses or a combination of CaliberRM license and BLS licenses.

If your CaliberRM server is configured to use BLS licenses only, you must change the Admin user license type to BLS to be able to log on to the CaliberRM server using the CaliberRM client as Admin.

In this case, connections of the Admin user to the CaliberRM server using the CaliberRM client are counted by the BLS server against the available licenses, and the type of the license acquired (named or concurrent) depends on the type of the particular BLS license assigned to the Admin user.

This will be correctly stated in the release notes of CaliberRM 2006.
