Why do I get the error: "The user ID you entered is already in use. please enter a new id before continuing." when adding a new user.

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: 2006
  • Product Component: Administrator
  • Platform/OS Version: All

Answer:

There are 2 reasons why you might get this error.

1. The user ID already exists in the user list. In this case please select a different ID

2. The user ID does not exist in the user list. In this case the user has been deleted previously.

In order to re-use the deleted user, you will need to restore the user account. To do this you will need a Versant tool called IVQL. (The CaliberRM 2006 verion of this tool has been attached to this KB article.) To use the tool unzip the attached file "ivql.zip" to a folder on your CaliberRM Server

To re-establish the users, you will need to launch a command line prompt, navigate to the folder you extracted the IVQL tool to and run the following commands.

  1. IVQL SQMDB
  2. select user_id from User_v300_p where account_state = 2
  3. update User_v300_p set account_state = 1 where account_state = 2
  4. commit
  5. quit
This will restore all the deleted users. You can rename and disable any you no longer wish to use.
