Why do I receive the error, "1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime" when installing CaliberRM?

Problem:

Why do I receive the error, "1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime" when installing CaliberRM?

Resolution:


  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: All
  • Product Component: Installer
  • Platform/OS: All


This error can occur if you do not have the latest Install Shield on your machine or if you have multiple versions of it. The error is known to Microsoft and can be resolve by the steps in the following link:

You may receive a "1607:Unable to install InstallShield Scripting runtime" error message when you try to install software in Windows XP

Although the steps in the above link should resolve the problem, you may come across the following error while performing the steps in the above link:

Network error


If you come across this error you will need to perform the following steps to continue installing the InstallShield:

  1. Download the Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
  2. Choose Save file option in the popup dialogue box
  3. A file called Msicuu.exe will be downloaded on your system
  4. Run the Msicuu.exe application. This will install the program
  5. Run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility file you just installed

    START | PROGRAMS | WINDOWS INSTALL CLEAN UP
    or
    C:\Program Files\Windows Installer Clean Up\msicuu.exe

  6. You will see a window listing various applications
  7. Select all enteries of the InstallScript, then click REMOVE.
  8. You"ll see the warning box, select OK.
  9. The utility will remove all parts of the InstallShield from your computer.
  10. Restart your computer,
  11. Try reinstalling again
