Why does CaliberRM 2006 still appear in Add/Remove programs after upgrading to CaliberRM 2008 SP1?

Problem:

Why does CaliberRM 2006 still appear in Add/Remove programs after upgrading to CaliberRM 2008 SP1?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: 2008SP1
  • Product Component: Upgrade
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows 2000/2003 Server

After running the CaliberRM 2008 SP1 installer and choosing the option to "Upgrade Features Currently Installed", the upgrade completes successfully. However, if you go to

CONTROL PANEL | ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS

Borland CaliberRM 2006 is still listed along with Borland CaliberRM 2008 SP1

This is a known issue and the current workaround is,

  1. Take a backup of the 2008 SP1 database
  2. Uninstall both 2008 SP1 and 2006 via add/remove programs
  3. Re-install 2008 SP1
  4. Restore the backup taken at step 1

Do not uninstall CaliberRM 2006 before taking a backup of your database as once you reboot the machine the "dbmgr" commands will no longer work.
