Question:
Why does it take a while to create a trace using the right-click method on a brand-new, un-saved requirement?

Answer:
A requirement has to be saved and essentially created before a trace can be linked to it. The right-click method actually saves the requirement first and then creates the link for the trace. The time period is the requirement being saved in the database. This period of time depends on the amount of data in the requirement (UDA"s, Description, etc.)
