Why does the Framework Administrator displays the error, "Server "name" cannot be found"?

Problem:

Why does the Framework Administrator displays the error, "Server "name" cannot be found"?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: 2005R2SP1
  • Product Component: Installation
  • Platform/OS Version: XP

After an upgrade or installation the Framework Administrator may be unable to connect and will display the error "server *name* cannot be found". To resolve this

  1. Take a backup of the database and store it in an another folder
  2. Open CONTROL PANEL | ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAM
  3. Uninstall both the Caliber Server and Caliber client
  4. Reinstall both Server and Client using the custom option
  5. Create a sample database
  6. Browse to the directory for the new sample database

    C:\Borland\CaliberRMServer\Versant\DB\SQMDB
  7. Take a copy of the "profile.be" file
  8. Restore the database backup file from Step 1.
  9. Copy the profile.be file into the directory of the newly restored database
  10. Stop and restart your server via command line prompts:

    dbmgr -stopdbmgr -start

The Framework Administrator should now connect and the licence key can then be installed.
