Why is the error message "E1099: SM_E_SDA_CRASHED: SDA has crashed " shown in the Caliber server log?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: All
  • Product Component: Server
  • Platform/OS Version: All

When this error occurs, you will not be able to connect to the Caliber Server and will receive a "connection rejected" message when trying to log in via the client. The full error message shown in the server log is,

"9 VersantException: Source = PError; Response = E1099: SM_E_SDA_CRASHED: SDA has crashed."

This issue is related to a memory leak with the Versant database. There is a Versant Patch that resolves this problem which is incorporated in the Versant database version in CaliberRM 2008 SP1.

Restarting the Versant database and Caliber services will not resolve this issue, you need to restart the physical server to fix this problem.

Borland recommends restarting the physical Caliber server once a month to prevent this problem from happening until such times that the Caliber server can be upgraded to the latest version of Caliber.
