Why when creating a new trace is it being set to "Suspect" immediately?

Why when creating a new trace is it being set to "Suspect" immediately?

Problem:

Why when creating a new trace is it being set to "Suspect" immediately?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: ALL
  • Product Component: Administrator
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows XP, Windows 2000/2003 Server

This behaviour can occur if you modify an attribute that has the "Make requirement traceability links suspect" enabled when creating the trace. For example if carry out the following in the CaliberRM client:

  1. An Attribute (with make trace suspect enabled) is changed
  2. A Trace is created
  3. The Requirement saved

At this point the Trace will be marked as "Suspect".

This feature can be enabled/disabled by using the following steps.

  1. Click FILE | ADMIN | USER DEFINED ATTRIBUTES
  2. Select the attribute in question
  3. Click EDIT
  4. Uncheck the "Make requirement traceability links suspect" option
  5. Save changes

Alternatively to work around the problem you could use the following steps:

  1. An Attribute (with make trace suspect enabled) is changed
  2. The Requirement is saved
  3. A Trace created
  4. The Requirement is saved again
