Why, when trying to open a project in CaliberRM web does the progress bar get to around 90% complete and then freeze?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: 2008
  • Product Component: Web Client
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows XP, Windows 2000/2003 Server

This behaviour can occur if you have a large amount of unread discussions and have the option to "Show unread discussions upon loading project" enabled.

After around 5 minutes loading with the egg timer showing as busy, the client will appear to hang at around 90% in the progress bar, as shown in the screenshot below:

The following error will also appear in the Java Console:

The workaround for this issue is to:

  1. Wait until the webclient has stopped loading and appears like the image above
  2. Change to a smaller project with fewer unread discussions
  3. Once the smaller project finishes loading and unread discussions have appeared click "OK"
  4. Select TOOLS | OPTIONS and GENERAL tab
  5. Uncheck the "Show unread discussions upon loading project" and click "OK"
  6. Now open the affected project
