(CO) Support Tip: Why is the vertica.log file continually growing and not rolling over for CO?

Hello CO Community,

There have been a number of people that have encountered issues with the vertica.log file continually growing and not rolling over.  One possible reason has been identified for non-Virtual Appliance CO installations.

The rollover process for the vertica.log file is a crontab job that is run as the pv_vertica user.  If password aging is enabled for this user, then the password will eventually expire.  When the password is expired for a non-root user, it will prevent crontab processes from running.
