Limit the host in Vpshere data source

Jump to solution

Hi Team,

Please advise if there is an option available in CO to limit the host during data source.

our customer environment contains both prod and test servers and we don't want to monitor test servers using prod license.

Hello Ashok,

In addition to the information that Thierry provided, I have seen some individuals set permissions within their environment so that the user specified to discover the VMware environment does not have permissions for the 'test' or 'dev' hosts/clusters.  This would prevent the collection from obtaining that information.

This has had mixed results depending on how your environment is configured.

Regards,

Mark

Hello Ashok,

You can restrict the collection to specific entity types (e.g. collect host and guets, skip clusters…). This feature requires CO 3.04 with one of the latest hotfixes. But you cannot filter out the collection of specific entities of one type.

You can however filter out CO alerts based on various criteria that can be based on host names and other attributes. This is described in "Suppress Alerts" at https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Cloud_Optimizer:3.04/alerting_overview.

In any case, the full topology will be discovered and forwarded to OBM (if you use the CO/OBM integration).

Regards,
Thierry.

Hello Nithyaraj,

There are hotfixes for both CO 3.04 and for the OBM MP for CO 1.26 that you probably have within your environment.

You would need to open a support case to obtain this hotfixes.  When you open the support case, you will need to provide your version of CO, OBM/OMi and version of OBM MP for CO that you have installed.

As for step by step instructions, they are within the product documentation reference that was provided.  Here is a direct link for CO 3.04 that was referenced.

https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Cloud_Optimizer:3.04/alerting_overview#Suppress_Alerts

I hope that this is helpful.

Regards,

Mark
