11.3 File Upload Extension

Since upgrading to 11.3 we're unable to install the file upload extension for firefox (ESR 24.5) on OS X (tried 10.8 and 10.9 - the extension works fine in win7). The link "Install the Novell File Upload extension to upload directories" is there but clicking doesn't do anything. It was working under 11.2.4, but hasn't worked since we upgraded to 11.3. Has anyone else run into this and found a solution?

Re: 11.3 File Upload Extension

Chndrcks,

the file upload extension never was supported on Macs - are you sure it
used to work?

Whilst I think you're correct the documentation needs updating since it
currently implies that whilst IE is supported on Windows (well duh!) and
Firefox 26.0 and 27.0 on Windows and Linux, Firefox ESR 17.0 and 24.0
are supported on all platforms due to absence of Windows and/or Linux
qualifiers.

From
https://www.novell.com/documentation/zenworks113/zen11_system_requirements/data/zen11_system_requirements.html

--begin--
The following web browsers are supported:

* Internet Explorer 8 (32-bit only) on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows
Server 2003, Windows XP, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2
* Internet Explorer 9 (32-bit only) on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows
Server 2003, Windows XP, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2
* Internet Explorer 10 (32-bit only) on Windows Vista, Windows 7,
Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server
2008 R2, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012
IMPORTANT:
* Internet Explorer versions prior to version 8 are not supported.
* Internet Explorer 11 is not supported; there are a few known issues
related to the support of this version of Internet Explorer in ZENworks.
* Firefox ESR version 17.0 and 24.0
* Firefox version 26.0 and 27.0 (including any patches) on Windows and
Linux devices
---end---

I'll report it (along with missing CSS formatting and some broken links
I just found).

HTH.

Re: 11.3 File Upload Extension

Simon,

in this respect, Novell don't look at OS X as Linux, I think

This definitely worked on 11.2.x. I used it a lot. Why was this pulled? This
just destroyed a client that we use this a lot for distribution. Why was
this pulled when it worked very well for what needed. You guys are killing
my business.

Re: 11.3 File Upload Extension

Rickb,

I have no idea, it may have been accidental, since it was not
supported, but that's only a guess, and I'm not one of "you guys"...

I am still trying to understand unsupported on 11.2.x since the docs for it
actually shows how to use it. I did not see it as unsupported. I just went
through readme and documentation for 11.3 and nowhere does it even mention
that support was removed for it. I am starting to question how Novell is
testing upgrades as well. I had a 11.2.4 server working great and tried to
upgrade and was not successful. It had a bunch of mac apps for distribution.
The upgrade blew up twice. I gave up and installed fresh. Luckily this was
my own. But I never got a chance to check this. Looks like another customer
that will probably rip and replace Novell. Novell wonders why they are still
bleeding.

Re: 11.3 File Upload Extension

Rickb,

I was wrong, forgive me: I can see that it's shown, I think someone
needs to open Service Request to get to the bottom of this

What good would an SR do if they have pulled it from the product. I just
can't believe it is not documented anywhere that it is no longer supported
that I could find. I really don't like wasting SR's on this. My experience
has been they won't credit an sr back for something like this.

Thanks Shaun, sorry for ranting, just very frustrating.

Re: 11.3 File Upload Extension

Rickb,

I made an assumption, based on the fact that the file upload page does
not mention Macs, it's not a statement of official policy, I'm no
longer privy to that

Re: 11.3 File Upload Extension

Can Either Rickb or Chndrcks Create an SR?
I can at least ensure the correct eyes get on it.
Can't promise any results.
