Adaptive Agent Config

How do I get the Adaptive Agent to show on the desktop similar to the
Application Explorer of Zen 7? Currently icons that are supposed to be on
the desktop to not show up there until I run NALWIN or if I go to My
computer, and then click once on the Adaptive Agent icon they then show
up. I want the desktop icons to show up on login... or at least as quickly
as the adaptive agent can initialize.

Re: Adaptive Agent Config

James,

if the service is working OK, they should just be there. Check the
event log, and the Zen log for errors...

Re: Adaptive Agent Config

Shaun,

Thanks for the reply. I'm not seeing any errors (that are obvious to me)
in the event viewer or the zmd-messages log. Like I said, if I open the
Computer icon and even just single click on the Adaptive Agent icon the
desktop icons that should be there show up instantly. Are you saying that
by default their should be a Novell Delivered Applications folder on the
desktop somewhere? This was an option with previous versions of Zen.

Re: Adaptive Agent Config

James,

no, not a folder on the desktop, just the delivered icons. You'll find
a new folder in MY Computer...

Re: Adaptive Agent Config

Still, not until I open the 'My Computer' window do the icons show up. I
think that was happening all along. Log in, no icons on the desktop, open
the 'My Computer' window and wait a couple seconds and the icons show up
on the desktop.

Could this have anything to do with folder redirection. We redirect the
Desktop folder to a network location. I wonder if that's where the mess up
is...

Re: Adaptive Agent Config

James,

that's possible - I'd try raise the logging level to debug and see what
you can see...

Re: Adaptive Agent Config

Works perfect for a user who doesn't have Desktop Folder redirection
enabled...

What's the best way to submit that to Novell. Maybe someone needs to
explain the whole concept of folder redirection to them because they never
seem to support it.

Re: Adaptive Agent Config

No, Shaun. It's on Vista. I have not tested on XP.

Re: Adaptive Agent Config

Microsoft AD Group Policy. We sync eDir and Active Directory. I use the GP
from Active Directory because it applies and works about 6000% better than
Zenwork's implementation of just the GPO files and you can use all the
features.
