Add-on Images

I'm trying to get a better understanding of "add-on images" to see if it
is what I need. From my understanding, it can be used for pushing out
installed programs? Such as Office maybe? How does it really work? If I
just copy the directory over and make it an image how does that affect the
rights? What about the stuff that changes registries?

Thanks in advance.

Add-on images allow you to cache the install to the local machine.
Add-on images do not perform the actual install. Add-on images work
really well when you want to load the network during off-hours so that
the install hopefully happens faster when users login. The benefit of
add-on images is very limited because of this.
