Bundle launch schedule - user login

I've got a cute little quota monitoring app from JRB Utilities that sits in the system tray for users to watch their disk space and at the moment have it set as a Bundle to Launch on user login.

The Bundle isn't anything clever, just Install the file (EXE) in Install phase then launch it with some parameters in Launch phase. What I've noticed on some machines is that it doesn't appear on first logon for the user but does second time round.

I'm guessing it's because first time the Agent hasn't refreshed then next time it knows to run at user login - not sure if I'm being impatient but will ZCM run a User Login-assigned bundle later on if it detects the Bundle during a refresh cycle... or will it just wait until the next login event to take effect?

The other option is for it to be assigned to machines but it kicks in a bit too eagerly during our imaging process and complains as Autoadminlogon doesn't have a Novell account attached 😉

Re: Bundle launch schedule - user login

Gshaw0,

it will wait for the event - this is a feature that used to be there
with ZDM7 and people were used to it - of course with ZCM we have many
more options, just not that one. There have been enhancement requests
asking for that, you can add your "vote"...

Hi Shaun

So if I get this right; you "can't" use the "Run/Install on user login"
and be sure it will do that?

oh you can, but it might not happen until the *next* login, depending on
when it gets into the cache

Hmm... so I'll stop using this 😉

I think there's something wrong with your postings? You're posting
double 😉

Yep, I'll remember that the following couple of weeks 😉

Re: Bundle launch schedule - user login

Actually the ZDM feature is already there in ZCM.
It's called on "Refresh" 😉

Force Run bundles in ZDM7 always ran on "Refresh" and there was no such
thing as a "Login" option, other than the fact NAL normally refreshed on
logon.

If you set a bundle to run on "Refresh" it will run the 1st time a user
logs on.

You could also disable "Random Refresh" and logon bundles would run
right away, though this may or may not slow down logons.

Re: Bundle launch schedule - user login

I've turned off the random refresh after login as I've got a Bundle that does the full zac ref bypasscache on user login, followed by gpupdate to make sure all GPOs stay up-to-date. It also helps with patch management as I don't want that running during imaging so I set the DAU to run 30 minutes after Agent refresh then set the ZCM Refresh bundle against eDirectory users rather than machines.
