Clonezilla and Zenworks?

I wasn't sure where to post this.. But when we create an image using clonezilla (without zenworks agent installed) and then restore that clone to two pcs (of the same model) and then install zenworks on both zenworks seems to think they are the same pc of sorts..

it comes up with different PC names in ZCM however only one can be managed at a time when the second agent is installed the first removes from management and then if we remove and re-add to the zone on the first the second removes from management..

is there a way to rectify this situation or is the usage of clonezilla not going to be compatible with zenworks?

Re: Clonezilla and Zenworks?

in the ZCC, Check the "Configuration->Registration" tab.
Make sure that "Enable Differentiation" is selected.
You may want to make sure that both Serial Number and Mac Address is
included at a minimum and perhaps machine name.

Re: Clonezilla and Zenworks?

I am not sure I follow.. When i click registration there are two options Registration Keys and Registration rules I don't see anything resembling Enable Differentiation

Re: Clonezilla and Zenworks?

Never mind I figured that out but the first two were already checked.. I also checked name I will see if that fixes the issue

Re: Clonezilla and Zenworks?

The thing is though.. they both when removing and re-adding to the zone it ends up looking like this say i have pc1 and pc2 when i add pc1 to management zone it comes up as pc1 with mac and serial of pc1 (which is how it should be)

when i add pc2 to management zone it comes up as alias pc1 host pc2.. with the serial numbers and mac address of pc2 when i remove and re-add it to the zone then it comes up as pc2 no alias but pc1 is gone and if i re-add pc1 it removes pc2

Re: Clonezilla and Zenworks?

Ok.. even with the name checked it still does the same thing..

also i noticed say pc2 is showing up but not 1.. if i try to reg 1 it says its already registered and when i remove 1 it removes 2 (and this isn't happening on just two computers we have different groups of them) one was a group of 6 computers that zcm thinks is all the same computer for lack of a better word

Re: Clonezilla and Zenworks?

What you are describing makes perfect sense WHEN Differentiation is not
enabled. However, since the devices clearly do not share MACs I don't
see how this can happen. Sometimes "Serial Number" is NULL so that is
why I suggest MAC as well. If they are VMs and happen to share MAC and
SN, then Machine Name may be needed as well.

But you may want an SR if adding Machine name does not help either.
You are describing an issue sometimes seen in ZCM 10 when GUIDs get
shared. However, the differentiation in ZCM 11 is supposed to prevent
what you are seeing.
