DLU Policy - included/excluded and deployment

Hello,

During Policy creation, we are confused by a section which lets us include or exclude workstations. The manual says that "Be aware of the following: By default, all workstations are included."
We have therefore added all workstations to the excluded list and added a test workstation to the included list.

After publishing the policy we found that the included workstation had not received the policy - so we assigned the device via the relationships tab.

Can anyone explain how included/excluded works in conjunction with device assignments?

Furthermore, after the policy was applied to the device, the DLU policy did not work. We were wondering if users need to be configured in Zenworks in order for DLU to work?

Thanks in advance,
Nemmy

Yes, User's must be configured in the User Source for DLU to Work and one has to logon to that user source.

In General, There is not any reason to mess with Include/Exclude.
Simply assign the DLU policy to the specific devices you want to get the policy.

Thanks for the reply Craig.

We have added a user source and tested DLU successfully.

Regarding include/exclude, the fear was that it would automatically apply DLU to all workstations (based on the wording in the guide). Is include/exclude a 'this workstation is allowed/not allowed to receive the policy' type of control?

Usually you would:

Assign DLU Policy to users, not devices.

That results in DLU (assigned to users) works on *all* devices.

If you want some devices to not accept DLU logins, you put them on the
exclude list, resulting in no DLU user, regardless if assigned or not
will work on that device.

Re: DLU Policy - included/excluded and deployment

The DLU Policy only applies to the devices to which it is assigned.
No need to make any use of the Include/Exclude in most cases.
Very Rarely used and will lead to confusion.

Simply Assign the DLU Policy to those ones which you want it to run.
