Disable DLU policies on certain devices

There used to be an agent registry key to disable any DLU polices on that workstation, does it still function on 11.4 agents?

Right now we have 2 DLU polices, a user policy assigned to all devices and an administrator policy assigned to users who need to be local admins. We have a few cases where we don't want any DLU policy to apply on certain workstations. I realize there is an exclude list in each policy which could be used to exclude certain devices/users. Problem with the modifying the DLU policies will result in all the users getting a force log off when the policy is updated.

You mean this:
https://www.novell.com/documentation/zenworks11/zen11_sys_user_sources/data/bz68dsd.html

It should work, since it is in the docs. Give it a try and tell us if it works.

Re: Disable DLU policies on certain devices

If you end up editing the DLU package, simply set the DLU Policy to not prompt the user to logoff of the policy has changed.
Usually this is not desired, so might as well as disable it.
Then you could add a System Requirement of your choice to the policy.

If that registry key works...let me know since I do not believe it is documented any more for current versions.
I can then request it be documented.

If you by "current" mean 11 SP2, then yes. It is documented, but not in
SP3.

Re: Disable DLU policies on certain devices

Right...Not documented in 11.3, 11.4, or 2017......
That being said...it is still referenced in some code I see, but it could easily be orphaned due to other changes in code.

My guess is that it just needs to be documented since it is still a useful setting if it still works, but regardless if it works or not it is not difficult to tweak the policy using a Sys Req in a fashion so it does not prompt the user to reboot.

Re: Disable DLU policies on certain devices

Good news, key still seems to work. I tested on win7 x64 with ZCM agent 11.4.2. DLU policies still show up as assigned and successful but they have no effect. I tested by applying the key, rebooted and tried to sign in with a user ID which does not exist on the PC. It gave an unknown user/password error instead of creating the account. On x64 the key has to go in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Novell\Workstation Manager
