Discovery Task - Perpetual "Pending" Status

After the 10.0.1 update (from 10.0.0), I've noticed that any IP
Discovery Tasks I create or launch stay in a "Pending" status for hours
or longer before discovery starts. If I restart the server, the task(s)
will start almost immediately. Is this another known issue? Which logs
should I look at to help determine a cause for the problem?

Other than a person a few weeks ago posting on this forum, I guess my
issue is unique? No one else is seeing this particular problem after
the 10.0.1 update?

Re: Discovery Task - Perpetual "Pending" Status

Michael,

actually, strange you should ask - I've just done an update, and I see
this for both discovery and deployment... I'm working on it...

Re: Discovery Task - Perpetual "Pending" Status

Michael,

I spoke too soon. When I went back to check my deployment task, it had
run, and when I did a deployment, it went straight through. Is your
server busy doing other things?

I created a new IP discovery yesterday. Today, almost 24 hours later,
the discovery is still in Pending status. ZCM 10 is the only thing
running on the server and, at times, the cpu is pegged at 100% for a
few minutes at a time, but I can't tell what is causing the load. What
are some likely ZCM 10-related culprits I could look out for?

Re: Discovery Task - Perpetual "Pending" Status

Michael,

I'd change the logging for discovery - in conf\loader there's a
discovery xml file - in there, change INFO to FINEST, then restart the
loader process. you should get messages in the loader log...

The top 4 processes running are: ZENLoader.exe, ZENServer.exe,
CasaServer.exe, and dbsrv10.exe.

Re: Discovery Task - Perpetual "Pending" Status

I am having this same problem. Both IP and LDAP discovery show the same problem. The task stays in perpetual "Pending" status. The only way to get the job to start is to reboot the ZEN server. This is very annoying. This problem only started once I updated to 10.0.1.0

Re: Discovery Task - Perpetual "Pending" Status

Michael,

this could be because your server is very busy - are you trying to
download patches and/or the system update?

The server seems to be pegged at close to 100% utilization for periods
of time (45-60 minutes) throughout the day. As far as patches are
concerned, the Patch Management subscription communication internal is
set to 20:00. I don't believe it is downloading the system update
because I'm already at version 10.0.1. The System Update Download
Schedule is set for Monday from 1:00 am til 3:00 am.

I tried the TID, but it made the situation much worse, so much so that
I had to restore the files I'd moved per the TID. However, I just
noticed today that, when I selected the Download and Install PRU Now
Action under System Updates, it says "The latest PRU is currently being
applied." It's been like that since the system update.

Re: Discovery Task - Perpetual "Pending" Status

Michael,

I have a new TID I'm writing that should help - just 3 lines of SQL...
