Duplicated devices

Hi,

I have a new ZCM 11.3.2 server since 2 months. On a remote site, the IT
tech migrate his devices to the new server and now, some devices are
duplicated multiple times. As an example, 1 device is registered with
<DEVICENAME> and duplicated 75 times with <DEVICENAME-GUID> with a different
GUID for each duplicated name.

Can I delete those duplicated names and where can I look to see why this
happened.

Thanks.

He probably has a bad image containing the device name in question.
Furthermore, he likely does not have it configured to auto-rename devices to match host name.

I would recommend looking deeper at the details of those 75 devices before I did anything else.

Re: Duplicated devices

After you track down why the way I deal with this when a tech re uses a
drive and forgets to zisedit -r before imaging is this. take the device that
has duplicated 75 times. Do a zac unr to un register the device. Delete all
of the duplicates from the zone then do a zac reg -g https://your
servername.xxx this will generate a new guid when registered. check to see
and make sure you have only one device with that name registered. As Craig
suggested though you need to track down what image was used as it will
happen again.
