Firefox upload extension not loading

I keep trying to enable via firefox the UNC Novell upload addon. I keep getting the following error as noted by the documentation.

To avoid this error and download the add-on, you must do the following:

In the Firefox Web browser, open about:config.

Create a boolean preference with the name extensions.install.requireBuiltInCerts and value set to False.

Click the Install the Novell File Upload extension link.

In the browser, open about:config and reset the value of extensions.install.requireBuiltInCerts to True.

Click Install Now, then restart your Web browser.

Where is about:config? I cannot find this. I've even tried IE tab to emulate IE and still it wants me to install this. any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You really should use Firefox ESR for admin workstations (if not for the
entire organisation).

I have never heard of such a thing before. Where can I get this? Is this some high speed Firefox browser that is somehow different than the Firefox I have been using since Firebird?

Re: Firefox upload extension not loading

Motc7,

After applying the setting extensions.install.requireBuiltInCerts=false, if you're running a version of Firefox that the extension was not certified for then you will also need to apply extensions.checkCompatibility.X.0, where X is the current version of the browser you're running (so in your case, it's probably extensions.checkCompatibility.16.0).

You should be aware that you're "voiding your warranty" by doing this and Novell can't really provide support for folks that do this - the recommendation would be to use the version of the browser the plug-in was certified for.

Re: Firefox upload extension not loading

Motc7,

is that the FF 16.0 that Mozilla removed immediately because of
security problems? And I agree with Anders - why is any business using
a consumer product to manage their environment?
