Install Adaptive Agent on Ubuntu

Hi

I having some issues where basically it wont install...

I may be being a tough ambitious trying to install the Zen agent on Linux Ubuntu but thought I would post here see if any one has managed it.

basically this is what i get

sudo /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.26/jre/bin/java /home/***USER***/Downloads/PreAgentPkg_AgentLinux.bin
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: /home/kelvin/Downloads/PreAgentPkg_AgentLinux/bin
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: .home.***USER***.Downloads.PreAgentPkg_AgentLinux.bin
at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:202)
at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:306)
at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:247)
Could not find the main class: /home/***USER***/Downloads/PreAgentPkg_AgentLinux.bin. Program will exit.

any ideas how i can make this work ?? or should i be using a different agent, or inventory only agent

Re: Install Adaptive Agent on Ubuntu

I would be very cautious in installing the Adaptive Agent on an
unsupported Linux/Unix OS. The problem is that the agent sets global
environment variables, which are not unique an can therefore interfere
with settings of the main OS also relying on the same variables. And as
there is a multitude of places, where those variables are set, it is
very complicated to sort them all out.
