Issues with login for the Agent

We are starting to push out AD Self Service GINA and it's allowing machines to log into the workstation, but the ZAA isn't getting logged in. I can login fine to the ZAA, but upon restart, it shows that there is no user logged in again.

I was hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on it even though it's not your product causing the issue.

Windows 10 1703 for the most part. Mine is 1803.

Re: Issues with login for the Agent

This should work just fine w/o issues.

#1 - If you want to use a different Credential Provider, you must set the ZCM Credential Provider to Disabled by setting -> "DisableZENCredentialProvider"
https://www.novell.com/documentation/zenworks-2017-update-2/zen_sys_registry_keys/

This actually enables the ZCM Credential Manager, which connects in later on in the logon process.
Also make sure that the "DisablePassiveModeLogin" is NOT set...or ZCM wiill not try to login.

#2 - In some cases it is necessary to reinstall the "User Management" MSI after a Windows Upgrade, since the Upgrade may remove ZCM hooks.

Re: Issues with login for the Agent

Note: While Testing...I would avoid 1803 in your testing for this issue for now....I'm seeing some anomalies in my lab specific to 1803.
Just don't want to get any possible 1803 issues intermingled with 3rd Party Provider issues....

Re: Issues with login for the Agent

Thanks for the information, Craig. Sorry I didn't follow up sooner. We had to add AD Self Service Plus to the FilterList value under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\Authentication\ZenCredentialProvider]. Once that was done, we had no issues.

We ended up moving all machines to 1803 over the summer, AND updating to 2017 Update 2 on all machines, whereas we only had teacher machines before.

We are wanting to put the AD Self Service GINA back onto machine, but it's not showing on the login screen on a lot of machines. Most of the ones I've been testing on were upgraded from 1703 to 1803 and ZCM 14.3 to 2017U2.

I will look into your suggestions, but was wondering if you could explain the login process or point me to a document for it. I assumed that the AD Self-Service would become the new GINA and pass that information to ZCM, but they think that CASA/ZENworks it stopping the AD Self Service from working in the first place. Would your first suggestion be the recommended option? Does that affect anything else or cause any unintended issues or is that exactly what it was designed for?

Re: Issues with login for the Agent

If you want to use a different Credential Provider, you must set the ZCM Credential Provider to Disabled by setting -> "DisableZENCredentialProvider"
https://www.novell.com/documentation/zenworks-2017-update-2/zen_sys_registry_keys/

Once that is done...then everything should just work.....

If NOT....there may be agent corruption related to an OS Upgrade.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the ZCM Agent....make sure to select the option to remove CASA.
Then install agent and make sure the key is still there.

If you end up needing to reinstall agent to fix along with reg key...then we can work on trying to Fix the agent....but most likely it is just the registry key is all you need to make everything work.
