Launch/Install of bundle - No action

Hi

I can seen some threads with this problem... or kind of. We run ZCM 11 on windows 7 SP1, but have the same problem as some on XP; When clicking on an icon in the Start Menu, nothing happens... not even when choosing right-click and "Open". So I've tried to launch from the window, but luck here either.

Anyone seen this? Hope it's just a missconfiguration or like that.

If you reboot, are you then OK?
I have seen issues where Launching Icons fail because the process is
running out of threads but a restart helps.

Knowing if restarts help, could get us going to try and see if we can
figure out why its running out of threads.

No. Maby it would work with ZCM11 also, but this is not my problem.

This may be a "thread" issue in ZCM.

I saw this once when customer had a frequently launched bundle that
never ended since the wait until "when action is complete" was set on
the bundle but the particular action was never complete since the action
never left memory.

A Simple example would be setting a bundle that launched "explore.exe"
with \\server\share as the parameter.

Since explore.exe never left memory the bundle was still in "running",
even though it could be launched again and again. Eventually bundles
stopped launching.

He needed to remove the wait until complete option for those bundles
that would not logically complete since processes stayed in memory.

That being said, there was also a defect recently that addressed a
threads issue but I can't recall when it was fixed, I will ask around.

Note: This could be bug#s 704824,693101, and 697652 as which is not the
bundle config issue i mentioned below.

You would need an SR to get some FTFs to try and address it.
However,I'm not sure if 11.1 versions are available yet for all of them.

Definitely recommend an SR if you dont find a particular bundle causing
the issue as I had for one customer.

Hi All,

Now that I've got zcm11 out to 1000+ workstations I am starting to see this problem. What should I be looking for?

I've had users restart the Novell ZENworks Agent Service and then login to zcm11 and refresh and that works for most, but the fall back which always works is a reboot.

Started looking through my apps, all of which were imported through the migration utility and am finding inconsistent results as to whether or not the launch action has under "wait before proceeding to next action" either "No Wait" or "When action is complete"

If you are stating that having "when action is complete" causes issues, why would the migration utility go and set this item which does not exist in Zen 7 to a configuration which causes problems in ZCM11.

Also, can I get a report of all apps that have this flag set? I've got over 400 bundles and I really don't want to check each one

It does not always cause an issue.
In most cases it does not and often may be preferred.

In the specific Example - Explorer.exe is the program called.

"When Action is Complete" will wait for Explore.exe to terminate, which
never happens.

Hence the action would never complete.
Very Few Apps behave in that fashion.

I am not sure on the rule for the migration tool.

However, I also referenced some other bugs which could lead to out of
threads/resources for other reasons.

Yes, this is actually my problem. And if there eas a way to get a list of all the bundles/actions with this obtion set, it would be very nice 😉
