License Question

Hello,

i've got two licenses for ZCM.

1 x ZCM Standard Care for the server
130 for Clients = ZCM Standard Maintenance

At the end of june they both expire, the question is, what happens then? Can I continue working as usual, or can't I just insert new patches?

What happend at the end of the expire? So I ask, because we do not want to buy new licenses for the ZCM 2011, because we change to 2017 in the next month.

bye,
excQ

Re: License Question

Hi.

There's a lot of confusion here.

1. You don't license servers in ZCM, only devices, it doesn't matter
what the device is.

2. There is no such thing as ZCM 2011. There is/are ZCM 11.X (X=0,1,2,3,4)

3 "Standard Care" is just a newer name for standard maintenance.

Now, here's how the whole licensing works mostly:

1. You buy a license for ZCM. That license is yours and forever. You can
use the product as long as you want.

2. You also buy maintenance (care) for your license. Initially, you are
forced to do so for at least one year. That maintenance gives you:

1. Support
2. Patches.
3. NEW VERSIONS!

For free.

As you currently have maintenance, you have licenses and maintenance for
the current ZCM version, aka 2017. It doesn't matter for which version
you originally bought this.

Now, if you let the maintenance / care expire, you will no longer have
support, won't be able to download patches, and also won't get new
versions once they're released.

This also means, if you let it expire now, and you later want to have
whatever next version of ZCM released, you have to *buy* the whole
license again! Only if you buy maintenance again while ZCM2017 is still
the most current version, you can do so, *BUT*, once your maintenance
has expired inbetween, it gets increasingly expensive.

That said, do NOT let it expire if you plan to continue to use ZCM.
Contact your Microfocus Partner and let them make you an offer to extend
the maintenance.
