Login fails on vdi with PCoIP protocol

Hi everybody,

Single Sign on, Autologon, Pass Through authentication.... or however you wanna call it... works when I choose the RDP protocol, but fails when I choose PCoIP
Once the desktop has been loaded, I can log into zenworks without any problems...

My system specs:

Windows 7 SP1
ZCM Agent 10.3.3
VMware View 4.6

We have eDir, but in our new Windows 7 test environment we don't have a Novell Client anymore....
We also use Active Directory and AD Group Policies

Windows 7 does not have a GINA anymore and all the GINA reg settings I find when I google for this do not work....

So if anyone has a good idea on how to solve this, that would be much appreciated!

Cheers
Remondo

Re: Login fails on vdi with PCoIP protocol

Same problem here... VIEW 5 this time on Windows 7.

Was there any solution to this?
Perhaps there is a generic solution to "credential chaining" that can be applied to VDM?

Re: Login fails on vdi with PCoIP protocol

So... The solution seems to be at ZCM 11.2 ... 😞

Nothing seems to be in the pipe-line for 10.x ..

Re: Login fails on vdi with PCoIP protocol

Did you enable Passive Login for the ZCM agent?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\ZCM\ZenLgn]
String - "DefaultRealm"="<DOMAIN/TREE"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\ZCM\ZenLgn]
DWORD - "EnableSeamlessLogin"="1"

DEV - ZCM 10.3.4/MS-SQL Database (2 Primaries & 2 Sats running 64-bit SLES 10.2 w/ ENGL Imaging Toolkit 7) PROD - ZCM 10.3.4/MS-SQL Database (5 Primaries & 11 Sats running 64-bit SLES 10.2 w/ ENGL Imaging Toolkit 7 ~7500 Managed Devices)

Tried this, but no joy.
The problem appears to be that the credentials are not being "broadcast" to any components that is listening for credentials...
VMWare are suggesting a ticket with Novell to provide an alternative to getting credentials...

Re: Login fails on vdi with PCoIP protocol

In the Novell official documentation the "workaround" to this credential chaining issue is to manually login right clicking the ZCM agent icon !
Not really SSO 🙂
Anyway we discovered by chance that it is the ORDER of installation that is important. If the ZCM agent is not installed before the VMware Agent + Tools + UserExperince/Blast the chaining will most likely fail. The reason being that the VMware agents DO NOT pass on the credentials - We are in luck that the ZCM agent does this 🙂

Note This:
Seamless Authentication fails on a Windows 7 virtual device
Explanation: If both ZENworks Adaptive Agent and VMWare View agent are installed on a Windows 7 virtual device hat is provisioned in a VMWare VDI environment, then seamless login to ZENworks fails on the device.
Action: Use the ZENworks icon to log in to ZENworks.

Third-party single sign-on products
When installing third-party SSO programs, we recommend that you install the 3rd-party product first then install the View Agent
