Logon Workstations Error

Hi guys,

I'm hoping someone else has come across this before...

We are using Zenworks 10.2 with Active Directory on a Windows Domain. We have a number of user accounts (in AD) where we restrict what computers they can log on to. This is done through AD Users and computers in the Logon Workstations window.

When one of these users log on they don't get logged into ZCM, instead they get the error "Unable to log into the network because the login credentials or the server certificate is incorrect."

I tried looking in C:\Program Files\Novell\ZENworks\logs but I couldn't find an entry for it.

If I remove the computers and select All computers, it works. But then someone could use this logon anywhere in the hospital...

Ronan

Also apologies, this is not really "Agent Deployment" but there doesn't seem be be anywhere better to put it.

Re: Logon Workstations Error

Hi Ronan,
We are having the exact same problem.
ZENworks 11 Auth to AD Domain.
User logs in with no restriced machines and they can log into ZENworks (no prompt).
However the moment I make the user in AD only able to log into a few certain computers, they are unable to log into ZENworks, so the exact same problem you were having.

Did you get this to work, or any help, ideas, etc??

Thanks Ronan.

Cheers,

Anthony

Re: Logon Workstations Error

When restricting the User, you need to include the ZCM Auth Servers as
valid places from which to logon, since the LDAP Auth verification takes
place from there not the user's workstation.

Re: Logon Workstations Error

I have entered the name of our ZCM 11 Server as well as the workstations the account is able to login to, and still no luck. 😞

Any ideas?

I am using ZEN 11, and authenticating to AD.

Re: Logon Workstations Error

Get an LDAP Browser Tool.

Configure the AD Account so you can logon using the LDAP Browser from
the Server.

I suspect your Server would need to be in AD, but not 100% sure.
If you used an Authentication Satellite Server, that could be placed in
AD then.

In short, you need to be able to do LDAP Authentication from the
Authentication Server.
