Re: PrinterPolicy Delete Failure

The printer policy is assigned to device or user ?

Thanks

Re: PrinterPolicy Delete Failure

Are there people with same problems?
I like to try to use the policies for printers instead of bundles with iprint commandline parameters to install printers.

Any known fixes for this coming in 10.2.2?

I have applied 10.2.2 and still have these errors.

I shall test if i also have that errors in 10.2.2, i've installed it now, so i can test it. But i think it is not working 🙂 :(,
Q: Do you want a solution?,
A: Wait an half year or year, and everything should be fine in the next next next next release.! grrrrr

I read somewhere a while ago one thing that you could try out:

If you deploy several printers to workstation then:

Create one policy per printer and assign them to your device.

So if one workstation should have 3 printers, assign all these 3 separate printer policy's to the device.

Re: PrinterPolicy Delete Failure

Thomas,

My configuration is what you explain. 1 policy=1printer.
Assigning to workstations give me another errors.
But i don't want to use that. I need it to assign to users.

I think there must be more people with the same problem.

Okay, I have only assigned printer policy's to devices.. I'll try assigning them to users in my virtual test environment. I'll post back results in a moment.

Re: PrinterPolicy Delete Failure

Now i Have 10.2.2 (group policies are very nice) so that's good.
But i tried the printerpolicies with an iprint print + install iprint. Assigned to a user.
the error is still the same:

CommonClasses.HandlerTimedOut (printer policy)

I have now assigned a printer policy to user to install one ipp printer (+ set to delete all printers not specified by zcm print policy). Tested this on both Win xp pro + win7 ult with ZCM 10.3 beta 3.

Success.. so there is a hope, but maybe first in 10.3 🙂 But if you can open an SR and tell them that it works on 10.3 beta then they could probably port that "working" code to 10.2.2
