Remote Management issue

Hello,

I am having a strange issue, hopefully someone can show me what I have done wrong.
Tried to create a role restricted to RemoteView :
- added Device Rights -> VL
- added Remote Management Rights -> RV
- added User Rights -> VL

- assigned Device Rights to the top level folder of devices.
- assigned User Rights to the top level folder of Users
- assigned Remote Management rights to the top level folder of devices and to the top level folder of Users .

A Policy for Remote Management is applied to User Contexts and devices.
When trying to access by selecting a device it is working as expected, but when trying to RemoteView by selecting a User, it is claimed that there are not sufficient rights.

Any Idea what is missing ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Remote Management issue

I can't really think of a specific reason why going to a user directly would cause that issue.
However, you may want to verify that you can control via the device when the same user is actually logged into that device.

When Remote Controlling a Device, it is necessary to have Rights to Both the Device and User.

For Example - The HelpDesk may have Rights to Remote Control the Desktop belong to the assistant of the CIO as well as the assistant.
However, if the CIO happens to logon to the assistant's PC, the Helpdesk would be rejected access to the assistant's PC while the CIO was logged on since only the HelpDesk Supervisor is granted rights to any session of the CIO.

Re: Remote Management issue

Hello Craig,

thanks for your reply. I will check Rights again, although I did it already several times before.
Greetings

Re: Remote Management issue

And it very well be something else....but unfortunately, I've not heard of that particular issue.
So about all I could do is detail some basic Rights information that seems to trip up some people.

Some Random thoughts....
What is ZCM thinks the user is logged into 3-4 PCs....Not quite sure what it would do then.
I presume it would likely try to connect to the last device to which the user logged on or the device to do a refresh last.
Not sure it maintain a list of multiple devices...but perhaps it does...never really paid much attention to that scenario....
