The action printer policy (ID:printer policy) failed

I am getting the following when trying to apply iPrint Policies with ZCM 10.3:

The action printer policy (ID:printer policy) failed the reason : partiallyFailedToEnforcePolicy, however the action is set to continue on failure.

The Policy removes all other printers, but then fails to install the iPrint printer.

Anyone have any ideas?

Re: The action printer policy (ID:printer policy) failed

I too am facing 1000's of these errors. Is there a basic set of steps for trouble shooting this sort of problem?
?am talking about printer policies without the iprint option selected, yet I am getting 1000's off these errors per workstation.
We are currently operating at Zen 11.2.3a

Thanks for any advice.

OK. FWIW, you posted in the 10.x section 🙂
So, you are seeing those errors even after the 11.2.3a update? What
does a full verbose log from an affected client say?

Re: The action printer policy (ID:printer policy) failed

My sincerest apologies for posting in the wrong forum; and thanks very much for your interest.

I would be glad to provide a full verbose log from an affected client. Are you asking me to provide the ZenAgent local message log
accessed via properties of the agent, and if so do you want it set to "Errors, Warnings, Info, Debug " ?

And would I provide it here, pasted into a response, or via email ?

Re: The action printer policy (ID:printer policy) failed

I looked at the error and the underlying errors and asked Novell and
they said:

"the only bugs I can find for this are fixed more than one year ago,
what kind of printer is being installed?"

Re: The action printer policy (ID:printer policy) failed

Its a Xerox Global Print Driver PCL6 (GPD_PCL6_32_Driver.zip), in this case supported platform "Windows 7 - 86 "

Incidentally, the deployment settings for that policy (under edit driver) has "Install forcefully even if driver is already installed", could that be the issue?
The bulk of our print policies have been setup up in this manner and are using the Xerox global print driver since we are primarily a Xerox supplied institution.

And how is it configured? Is this a local, iPrint or something else. Also
what is the exact name and GUID of the policy?

Re: The action printer policy (ID:printer policy) failed

Name: Xerox 5755 - Rm 306 (32bit) w Filter
GUID: d7af51b12066f81350b924e6a9731589

- Its a local printer, not iPrint
- The naming convention (not mine) of "w Filter" simply means there is a filter setting for 32 bit machines (architecture = 32 )

I sent you some screen shots of the exact config.

thanks much,

If you look at the properties of that user, is he/she authenticated?

Re: The action printer policy (ID:printer policy) failed

The user is indeed logged in via the Novell Client and into Zenworks as well. (properties of the Zen agent via the taskbar confirmed logged in)
