Visual Studio 2013

I was just showing a colleague how to use Software Applications report to see what machines had certain software installed. One of the examples that I was asked to show was Microsoft Visual Studio (MSVS) 2013. It turns out that ZCM inventory doesn't seem to be identifying that version of MSVS. I tried a product search (in Configuration | Assent Inventory) and MSVS 2013 is not in the available list of software to search for.

Is ZCM identifying MSVS 2013 for anybody?

thanks
Chris

Re: Visual Studio 2013

What version of ZCM are you running? Are you current on the monthly PRU updates? The PRU updates contain the snigatures for applications, so an old PRU will result in newer applications not being identified. That would be the first thing to look at.

Re: Visual Studio 2013

We are running ZCM 11.2.3a. When the workstations last updated inventory (last week), it was with the July PRU. I updated the PRU, but was still unable to see the software as an option with the product search.

You may need to Generate a Fingerprint Request.

OR upgrade to 11.3 where inventory can also check for MSI and read the Add/Remove Programs list.

Re: Visual Studio 2013

Thanks, I'll give the fingerprint request a crack.

The 11.3 upgrade is in the works (I've performed the upgrade a few times in a test environment). It is just back a few items in the project queue.

Re: Visual Studio 2013

I ran the SWID wizard and selected the option for it to auto FTP the file at completion, but that failed saying that the file was too big. I then tried to email the file to the address mentioned in the documentation (zam_support@novell.com) and got a bounce back saying that the account didn't exist. Anybody know of another option for submitting the .SWE file?

Re: Visual Studio 2013

Thought I replied to the thread but try uploading the file manually to
ftp://ftp.novell.com/incoming

Not sure why you got a bounce back, I verified the address using my
yahoo.com account.

If it is on the FTP site, I can contact the folks attached to that email
address directly.

Re: Visual Studio 2013

I realize this is an older thread, but from recent ZAM projects I am seeing good, up-to-date Visual Studio recognition.
