ZCM 11.4.2 Update Completed With Errors

Greetings,

The environment:

Primary Servers: 2x SLES 11 SP3
Database Server: Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 SP3
Update: ZCM 11.4.0 > "Post 11SP4 Update Prereq" > ZCM 11.4.2

I have applied the 11.4.2 update to the first primary server in the zone without issue. The second primary server completes the update with errors and the agent version has not incremented(screen-cap attached)

From system-update.log:

[ERROR] [07/15/2016 18:52:21.940] [7742] [ZENUpdater] [] [root] [SystemUpdate] [RPM_INSTALL_ERROR] [ERROR] [(/bin/rpm -U -vv /var/opt/novell/zenworks/zmd/cache/ZenCache/a354296916fe42a2ba353c601ee0830d/web-zenworks-11.4.2-18.1.x86_64.rpm),1] [] [] [ZENworks]

When I run the RPM command manually:

😧 Requires: vabase-jetty NO
😧 package web-zenworks-11.4.2-18.1.x86_64 has unsatisfied Requires: vabase-jetty

error: Failed dependencies:
vabase-jetty is needed by web-zenworks-11.4.2-18.1.x86_64

How do I satisfy this dependency? I have not been able to figure out how to install this vabase-jetty. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Same issue here,

rpm -qpi web-zenworks-11.4.2-18.1.x86_64.rpm

Summary : This package contains web-zenworks for the base Virtual Appliance
Description :
This is a package of web-zenworks for Virtual Appliance. It is part of the ZENworks set of appliances.
Distribution: Novell ZENworks

I wonder why the System Update 11.4.2 would install this on a "regular server", because it is software to manage a ZENworks appliance..

Also I cannot find the vabase-jetty software . Not on the ZENworks iso's neither in the System update zip files. Also tried the SLES 11 repo's. But not found so far...;-(

WHY IS NOVELL MAKING IT SO DIFFICULT!

Re: ZCM 11.4.2 Update Completed With Errors

The "CAUSE" is most likely that the Servers have accidentally been assigned the "Appliance" Role, so it thinks it is an appliance.

If at all possible, I would recommend an SR to try and fix this, since incorrectly updating the "Roles" table can cause issues.
Further, I believe MS_SQL (Not Sybase or Oracle) had issues when modifying the roles table so extra care....

However, It appears in both cases here the "DB" Changes have gone through so that issue should be cleared up.
I don't want to give too many specifics since I recommend an SR.

Once the Table is fixed, the update will not longer try to install the items with failed dependencies.

If you cannot open an SR, just let me know.

OK, They should know all about how to fix the server having the Appliance Role inadvertently or at least know how to contact someone to fix that.

Re: ZCM 11.4.2 Update Completed With Errors

In my case, there was a incorrect ApplianceServer role in the database. After removal of this role, Reaplied the System Update and everything looks good.

Thank you

Re: ZCM 11.4.2 Update Completed With Errors

Dear Forum Members,

We have the same issue.
Installed 11.4.2 update on the first primary server successfully. Start the deployment on the second primary server and got the error in system-update.log:

[9004] [ZENUpdater] [] [root] [SystemUpdate] [RPM_INSTALL_ERROR] [ERROR] [(/bin/rpm -U -vv /var/opt/novell/zenworks/zmd/cache/ZenCache/ec5f11d0d43f44f1af580123f2b2fcd0/web-zenworks-11.4.2-18.1.x86_64.rpm),1] [] [] [ZENworks]
[DEBUG] [07/26/2016 22:13:41.192] [9004] [ZENUpdater] [] [root] [SystemUpdate] [] [DEBUG] [An error occured during command execution...details should have already been logged] [] [] [ZENworks]

ZCM Environment:

1x Primary Server SLES11 SP3 (first primary)
1x Primary Server SLES11 SP4 (second primary)
Database: external sybase on SLES11 SP3

Is there a solution available already? Are there some instructions to change the server role?

Thank you for your information.

Kind regards
Florian

Re: ZCM 11.4.2 Update Completed With Errors - solved

Dear Forum Members,

issue resolved after removing the zZENServerRoles Entry for this secondary server in the Sybase Tables, which was "ApplianceServer". Now the Versions displayed are:
11.4.2.0
ZCM : 11.4.2.0
ZAM : 11.4.2.11050
ZPM : 11.4.2.601
ZESM : 11.4.2.11050
ZFDE : 11.4.2.11050

And the Status for Update for ZENworks 11 SP4 (11.4.2) is Successful.

Kind regards
Florian

Hi,
I'm facing the same problem. Can you tell how can I do this? Or should I open a SR?

Re: ZCM 11.4.2 Update Completed With Errors

Opening an SR is best.
Altering the Roles in the DB is not Difficult, but if the process goes wrong the effects can completely break your server until fixed.
Best to have someone right there making the change that can instantly fix it up if something goes wrong.
