Zenworks Progress Bar

I have 10.1.2 version of Zenworks Configuration. Some users are reporting
that they are getting a "zenworks progress" bar showing up on their
computers. It is completely blank and does not show anything.

What could be causing this?

Re: Zenworks Progress Bar

I have 10.1.3 version and I have the same "problem" from time to time.
Reboot is the only "fix". If you maximze the "zenwork progress" button, the window is empty (blank). Sometime it goes away if you "restore" and then
"close"

Re: Zenworks Progress Bar

Yeah this has been an "annoyance" for ages with ZCM.

Iv'e actually just openned an SR with Novell about it, so will keep people informed.

If you right click ZCM agent, select "Show Progress" then close that window when it opens, it will get rid of the apparent open window in the taskbar too.

Did you ever get a resolution for this? Doesn't happen very often, but it's a huge annoyance to the users when it does.

Re: Zenworks Progress Bar

We also have that problem.
It seams the Progress Bar is now "Activity Indicator" in english?

So we have installed the german version.
Version: ZENworks Adaptive Agent, Windows 10.3.0.27649

The Progress Bar (Activity Indicator) is always open and does not show anything. It cannot be closed.

Does anyone have a fix for that?

Re: Zenworks Progress Bar

We are using 10.3.1 and having the issue on about 2/50 users. It is quite annoying and looks really bad. It is generating help desk calls as well. Seems like an old issue to have not been resolved by now.

Thanks,

Re: Zenworks Progress Bar

Anyone found a solution for this yet, it appears to be happening to more often and users are complaining. Has anyone scripted a workaround or anything? Like to close the window automatically?

Re: Zenworks Progress Bar

We still have this problem as well. Thought that updating to 10.3.1 would fix it. 😞

@heavyhaze:
Shouldn't be too hard to create an AutoIT-script or something as a workaround, and then run it at user login.

Re: Zenworks Progress Bar

Well, I went ahead and made a script for this with AutoIT. I tested it on XP and 7 (32-bit) but should work on others as well.
However, I can't attach the file here, and I don't have any account on RapidShare or equivalent service (and I'm not that interested in getting one at the moment).

You can compile it yourself with AutoIT. Just download and install it, run it and copy/paste the following text:
; Simple script to close the annoying ZENworks Progress Bar.
; Made by Pär Nilsson, spyder [at] westinhouse.net
; This script is provided as-is.
;
; Start with a little delay.

Sleep(5000)
; Make the 'ZENworks Progress' window active.
WinActivate("ZENworks Progress")
; Make the window believe it's minimized. 🙂
WinSetState("ZENworks Progress", "", @SW_MINIMIZE)
; Close the window.
WinClose("ZENworks Progress")
; Should be gone now.

Save and compile it (Tools > Compile) and you're ready to test it.

If you want me to mail the compiled executable, send me a message. If anyone can host the file or upload it, please pm me so we can put a link here.

Re: Zenworks Progress Bar

I found a problem with the code above, if you run it like that, it will not be possible to open the Progress Window manually anymore until you log out and log back in. Here is an updated version:
; Simple script to close the annoying ZENworks Progress Bar.
; Made by Pär Nilsson, spyder [at] westinhouse.net
; This script is provided as-is.
;

; Start with a little delay.
Sleep(5000)

; Make the 'ZENworks Progress' window active.
WinActivate("ZENworks Progress")

; Make the window believe it's minimized. 🙂
WinSetState("ZENworks Progress", "", @SW_MINIMIZE)

; Restore the window.
WinSetState("ZENworks Progress", "", @SW_RESTORE)

; Close the window with Alt+F4, using WinClose caused it never to open again.
; WinClose("ZENworks Progress")
Send("!{F4}")

; Should be gone now.

That should do it.
