8.1.0.7239 - Global Setting Backup
Hi Everyone,
Is there a way to reliably backup global settings and roll them out via group policy?
We are using 8.1.0.7239 We are finding that the global settings are often becoming corrupted or not able to be retrieved at all.
Thank you!

Unfortunately it is not possible to roll out the entirety of Global settings via group policy. Some regkeys can be changed this way but not to the extent that you would like.
Do you have more info of what happens when you get corrupted settings?

the icons in the toolbar change (the refine search button now has the refresh icon) and if a user "gets global" only the default HPRM toolbars are returned

Could you use SCCM as an alternative?

The workaround I did was inatall HPClient on a new VM which never had HPRM. I used get gobals first time and customised the way I wanted ( using HPRM System Admin privileges). Once all the toolbars , colors and other setting were defined I save it as Global , lockdown the Globals ( the way you did un your case).
After setting that my toobar and globals started working as expected. Hope this trick may help you as well.
Cheers,
Harry

I am having a similar problem to this.
I am working in RM 8.1.1 in a test environment. I set up all my globals and saved them. Then I opened TRIM Desktop (still logged in as Administrator) and the shortcuts were all different. So I clicked on the Get Global button, and selected all of the options, clicked OK to get through the "there's not much in this setup" and "are you sure?" warnings. Then RM made all my changes and instantly changed them back again to the default set up.
We're scheduled to do our upgrade next Friday, and whilst I can update each user's computer individually and manually, I would really rather not. Any suggestions please?
Thanks
Mandy
