Available Spaces in Space Management

Hello CM Users & Experts,

Hoping to find a way to locate all the available spaces in the space management module when shelving boxes.  We have over 40K spaces and currently the only way to find which ones are empty in CM is to search within the Records Center and at Lowest Level and then sort by the Available column. With so many spaces the sort can take over a half an hour per box and staff are using work arounds because that's just not efficient and we'd never get anything put away.

Is there any way to narrow the search to say "and remaining space available greater than 0" ?

I also tried using Find Contiguous

Number of Records to Fit = 1

Search within space = Records Center

It just told me to use a lowest level space, but it is exactly those lowest level space that are empty that I want to pull up all at once without any full spaces being included.

Thanks in advance!

I hope I'm understanding your requirement here.

You could run a search for Spaces with the parameters "not none and lowest'. i.e. [NOT None] and [Is Lowest Level].

Hi Shiela,

I think you are understanding, but I suspect my syntax isn't correct. The first two criteria get me down to the lowest level (space on the shelf) in the specified location, but adding and [NOT None] seems to cause the search to fail and result in no results or in results for all lowest level spaces including those that are filled, even when I know there are spaces available.

Here's what I tried in the String

within:[default:0001*] and lowest and not none

I've tried both with and without the brackets and the uppercase letters, but am still getting result showing spaces that are full (0 available).

What I am trying for is the opposite, the spaces that have 1 available (if you looked at one of the available spaces in the Properties/Space Usage, you'd see: Total Capacity 1 Remaining Space Available 1 Total Records Allocated 0 as opposed to the resulting spaces which have Total Capacity 1 Remaining Space Available 0 Total Records Allocated 1)
