Error Message in Events: Mail Notifications

We are using Trim 7.1.0.1157

We are getting a blocked by error in events "mail notifications" in our test dataset.   We are using mail notifications in testing workflow.

The error is:

18:49:52 0 Error : RR User: TRIM-EVT - Time-based event processing error occurred on database 'RR' for processor 'Mail Notification', details: Your E-mail system reported an error. Overlapped I/O operation is in progress. (0x000003e5)..

18:49:52 0 Time-based event processing error occurred on database 'RR' for processor 'Mail Notification', details: Your E-mail system reported an error. Overlapped I/O operation is in progress. (0x000003e5)..

What causes an "Overlapped I/0 operations is in progress"  error.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Error Message in Events: Mail Notifications

The most common cause of this is that TRIM is trying to send an email to an address ouside of the exchange domain.

The best solutions are to fix the errant email address (often a misspelling), or to set up a relay connector for the TRIM event processing server IP.

The actual user location holding the email address can be searched for using the boburi value from the windows event log entry, and searching the TSEVENTDAT table for this value.

Re: Error Message in Events: Mail Notifications

If the "Blocked by Error" is for Mail Notification then the error is most likely with the eMail configuration in the TRIM Enterprise Studio or the Event configuration in the client System Options.

If the "Blocked by Error" is for the Schedule Event Triggers then the error is most likely an invalid eMail address for the Responsible Location associated with an Action/Workflow.

If you don't have access to the database you can check the boburi from within the TRIM client by selecting tools-> Options -> Search tab and selecting String-based search editor. Bring up a search window and type URI:"boburi value" for example URI:334567

This is a defect with your current build

The resolution to this issue is to identify the invalid eMail address(s) and correct it. The location of the eMail configuration values are:

TRIM Enterprise Studio > General Tab > E-mail Server section:
E-mail server field
Send e-mail from this e-mail address field

TRIM client System Options:
Tools > HP TRIM Administration > System Options > Events tab:
Send e-mail notification of security breaches to field
Send e-mail notification when Document Stores approach capacity limits field

Also make sure the responsible Location for an Action does not have a valid eMail address

As Alexw_1 suggested the most likely cause is you haven’t setup the external (or internal being a test system) relay correctly in your email system or the email address is incorrect.

Re: Error Message in Events: Mail Notifications

May be little late on this one but..

Overlapped I/O operation is in progress

Seems to be different to the Blocked by error due to an invalid email issue..This error does not state a Boburi to hunt down.

I have had two clients experience this and the solution to one has been to make sure the exchange server has an IPv4 address..

Still trying to rectify the other site though so any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

Re: Error Message in Events: Mail Notifications

Used to get the overlapped IO error all the time. Going to an IP v4 address for the mail server certainly improved the situation. Not seen the error once since running 7.3............ I had always assumed the problem was my (freeware) mail server.

Re: Error Message in Events: Mail Notifications

What is puzzling is that the error is occurring in our training dataset and not in our production dataset.

Both datasets are in the same TES.   Email is working fine in production and not in the training dataset.

Once again, we are using Trim 7.1.0.1157

Thanks.

Re: Error Message in Events: Mail Notifications

There was a fix done for the "Blocked by error" message in mail notifications:

QCCR2D45717 - Event Processor - Mail Notifications - "Blocked by Error" message (fixed in 7.3.0.5193)

QCCR2D45732 - Event Processor - Mail Notifications - "Blocked by Error" message (fixed in 7.1.2.2017)

QCCR2D46247 - Event processor crashing frequently (reportedly fixed as part of this fix in upcoming 7.2.x release - check TRIM7.22_Fixes.html document when released)
