External Workflow [Integration]

Does anyone have more information regarding the external workflow integration in 9.4?  Some examples or use cases perhaps.

The release notes are vague.

External Workflow Integration

The new External Workflow integration option allows organizations to create links to external
workflow applications. This integration initially is linked to Objective's Perform application.
The feature, External Workflow Types, must be enabled in the System Options - Features page to use
this new feature.

When enabled, organizations can set up External Workflow Types, linking Content Manager and the
external workflow application, setting the required defaults for any associated record creating and
behaviors.

Re: External Workflow [Integration]

I believe the purpose of external workflows is to allow vendors to integrate their own workflow engines more deeply with CM - one which already does this is Objective Perform.

Having external workflows tracked in CM allows records managers to set up custom disposal schedules based on whether a record is part of a workflow in another product.

I believe there is also some bi-directional UI capabilities as well, so for example a user could follow an external workflow link in the CM client to open Objective.
