HPRM Version 8 Build 2.0.7591
We will be upgrading to CM9 later this year but in the meantime we seem to have an issue with the Alternate Container field and was hoping someone could provide some advice.
A business unit wants to use the Alternate Container field so that they don’t have to duplicate documents, they want to be able to view the one document from two locations. Within HPRM, all staff within the business unit have set their screen layouts to include Container and Alternate Container. The issue we have is that some staff from within the business unit cannot see the documents in HPRM that have used the Alternate Container whereas other staff members within the same business can. There is no Security/Access on the documents.
Is this a bug in the older version of HPRM or are we missing something here?
Not sure if I'm on the right track here... Just wondering if they have the correct fields names in the screen layouts (do you mean List Pane columns or record View Pane)?
Alternative Container, Alternative Record Number, Alternative Containers, Related Records and Related Records. (see attached screen)
The only reason I think it would show for some and not others is security settings on the container and/or user. Are you sure the users have the exact same settings?
I can confirm the people in this division all have the exact same settings in their List Panes and there is no security on the container. The users also have the same security.
Get one of users who can't see the Alternative Containers to right-click on a record you know has alt. containers and go down to Security and Audit then click View Rights.
Expand the Tasks for this list of Records group - scroll down until you see Container (+ Alternative)
There is also another option under the Tasks for Record group - Put in Alternative Container - check that one too.
These may give you some information as to why they can't see the alt. container.

It could be the Navigate function between documents and containers, there are two navigate options, one includes alternates, the other doesn't. So if the users that can't see the documents are using the standard navigate, that would be the problem. They would need to use the Navigate to contained records plus alternates.
