Scanners and RM8

We are using RM8 and want to implement hand held scanners to improve our current processes.  We are mainly interested in the tracking of physical files are any of you using hand held scanners with RM8 and could you give me some advice please.

We are interested in something like this: http://www.infoproficiency.com.au/Scanners/BarcodeScanners.aspx

We are using version but are looking to upgrade in June/July.  We are looking for advice before we purchase any devices.

Thank you

Re: Scanners and RM8

We have used Denso scanners with both TRIM and RM8.2 and 8.3.  The only problem we have is that we have only been able to scan one number at a time (either to find it, or to reposition it).

We would like to scan a whole series of barcodes and then submit the list to be repositioned, or accessioned, or for any other permitted action.  Does anyone have this software?

Re: Scanners and RM8

In this case I'd expect InfoProficiency's in-house developed software to do what you need it to do with the portable barcode scanners and HPRM.

In cases where someone purchases barcode scanners without any HPRM-specific software, the HPRM online help does provide a definition of what's required when developing software for portable scanners:. This is supposed to be enough information to allow any barcode reader supplier to write their own software for their portable scanner to work with TRIM/HPRM:

HPE Records Manager Help > Barcode scanners > Barcode scanners administration > Programming your barcode scanner > Portable scanners

I believe HPE Support have a copy of a program (pd3/pd4 format) that was written for Denso portable scanners (by whom I don't know). You may want to log a support case asking for a copy (though I'm not condifdent they'd be able to explain the installation process - you may be on your own with that).

Note: Any posts I make on this forum are my own personal opinion, and unless stated otherwise do not constitute a formal commitment on behalf of Micro Focus.

(Please state the version of CM you're using in all posts.)
