When usiing Actions, I've got TRIM successfully sending notification mails with a TRIM reference attached when the Responsible Location is a Person. It doesn't seem to attach a reference if the Responsible Location is a Position, Group or Organisation. Is it supposed to? At present, I'm working around the issue by adding the record number and title fields to to the email template, so members of the Postion / Group / Organisation at least have some idea which record they're supposed to be working on.

Most likely it's not sending it because that location "can't login" and therefore couldn't leverage a reference file. To work around this, check the box to allow logins and provide any login name (well one that is unique and unused). Then it should attach a reference to the notification.
The obvious drawback here is that you use up a seat from your license.
