TRIM Licensing

Three words..

Make it easier.

Tring to activate and combine licenses is way to difficult.. There is no way an average person can get through it.. The HP site reminds me of the movie The Labrinth.. Not only is it difficult to navigate but there are cryptic questions and goblins trying to stop you each step of the way..

Well maybe not the goblins but you get the idea.

Re: TRIM Licensing

It took us weeks to get HP to correctly identify our license count after we purchased a mere 5 more licenses.  And even then, they generated a new license number which messed with existing reference files and I had to ask them to apply the licenses to our original license number.  It was undeniably painful.  For such a big and successful company like HP, I'm disappointed that their licensing support is so terrible.

Re: TRIM Licensing

The licence name is stored in the tr5 file, have a look. The content is text.

Re: TRIM Licensing

I really don't see why they had to design it that way.  How often do clients have access to multiple datasets using the same ID but with different license numbers?

Re: TRIM Licensing

I believe it stops you from being able to open up a TRIM link on the off chance that you get one from another organisation which has a TRIM dataset with the same datasetID.

We do a fair bit of TRIM work with other organisations with TRIM and there is one other which I know of which shares a common datasetID. Changing a production datasetID once it has already been established would not be a fun endeavour.

It also helped me troubleshoot a "Why doesn't this TRIM link work" issue.

Had a look at the Liscence name in the TR5 and it wasn't even ours. =D
