TRIMPort Installation Issues - Documentation for Specifications / Pre-requisites in TRIM 7.0.1

Jump to solution

There seems to be a documentation gap for TRIMPort.

Does anyone know what its requirements are, or where this is written?

It won't install under Windows Server 2008 R2 (where a 64 bit install exists), nor will it run in Windows XP without an error message.

Before I go too far in trying to troubleshoot this, it would be great to get some clarification on the pre-requisites.

Thanks

Hi Grundy,

The issue is that the mscomct2.ocx file wasn't being registered (the error message states this after the TRIMPort wizard is run)

After registering the mscomct2.ocx file located in the system32 directory using regsvr32 command TRIMPort appears to be working in XP (it is processing, though the quality of the data matching as a result of the import has not yet been assessed)

Thanks,

Kim

There is an installation problem with it where it should be a Client component and not a Server component.

It will work on any client installation following the client requirement specs.

What error do you get in XP?

Should be working fine.

This error was found early on by QA in 7.0.0 but it always appeared to work in Windows XP.

They found that is was primarily a permissions error when installing the prerequisite runtimes, the .oxc file would install but not be registered, so the installer should be run as an admin from an admin command prompt.

Registering the .ocx manually is the workaround if you get this issue though, so it should work fine once you've done this.

Any way for TrimPort to be installed on a server installation? Version 7.1? I don't even see it as an available option.

It looks like TrimPort was moved into the client install options, so it appears you have to install at least the client in order to get it.  Or you might be able to copy the necessary files from a client installation, but I don't know what you may need to do in order to get that to work.

If you go back and try to add the client to a server the only selection available is "Standard data" or whatever it's called. There are no other suboptions for a client.

I mis-read the subject of this thread, it is in the client sub options for Trim 7.1, but I can't speak for 7.0.1.

Sir it is my understanding that you will have to use the 32bit version of the TRIM Client to utilize the TRIM PORT feature.

It looks like that's the case.  The documentation is a little less than clear on that.
